ABOUT SINGING

concerning my voice I know today, that any human being should be able to find their true singing voice by doing the same thing I did - sing a lot to songs you really love. Know when to rest your voice. The only thing that can prevent it from happening is if satan blocks your true singing voice, then theres nothing you can do but wait till it's unblocked from spiritual realms. In my case, that took 36 years, and got unblocked for maybe 4 months, and now he has blocked it again, but I believe it will be released again once I can stop taking that injection. Something similar happened last year, with Risperdal again they put me on. My singing voice became terrible until they switched me back to quitiapine. Note that if satan blocks your singing voice, if you try to force it, you will only make it worse.

When training the singing voice, you get much power from singing itself, but I believe you get even more power from resting your voice. I know very well how painful it is for a singer to go even one day without singing, but you have to sometimes, even a week or more depending on what your inner voice tells you. Trust me, if anything doesn’t feel right, don’t sing. If you are in a hurry to bring out your singing voice in order to start making money or some other reason, you will not get your complete true right voice as God intends, but something compromised, that satan will let you settle for. A true child of God will wait on him no matter how long. Good things always take time.  Satan always offers a short cut to compromise it.  Of course even I did not stick 100% with this advice, and sang quite a few times when conditions were not perfect for singing, so take with a grain of salt. When love calls, we answer and obey.  No one is perfect but it's still good advice.  Maybe you can do better than I did.

Never use more force than your voice can take at that time, says will break it. In the end, when the process is complete, you will naturally be able to use complete full force, wherever required, but until then, stop just short of damaging it.

In the beginning, when I just started singing a lot, I got a sore throat a couple times, and seems part of the beginning process of changing your singing voice to the true one.  It is one of the signs along the way that things are changing in that area.

One advice about developing your voice I would say is, always use your full voice, even the parts that sound bad. Those bad parts should clear out naturally, but if you only favour the good sounding part, your voice will not be complete when it's developed. Those parts that would have been added if you kept using the full voice will not be there. Don’t favour only the good sounding part(s). Also, never try to force a vibrato or waver. If it doesn’t come naturally, leave it. Tone of voice is far more important than vibrato. In the very beginning, your voice will have certain undesirable elements to it. It will naturally go through ascension, removing the unwanted elements and adding any missing good elements, until you have achieved you true higher singing voice. When your voice is right there is a definite feeling of indestructibility about it. Don't let anyone teach you to sing, except this foundational knowledge. It is something that should happen naturally.

When your voice is not yet developed ( still with satanic elements ), the vibration, ringing or resonance, will be around your adams apple or a little higher ( maybe around your jawline ). As it begins to develop, it begins to move higher and higher up till it is in your nose area. This was true for me, and also confirmed by a book about singing I found in my mothers room one day. They also showed a diagram of the throat to nose area, before and after. Before, it was wider in the lower area, and narrower in the nose area. After, it was narrower or medium in the lower area, and wider toward the nose area. There is a much more pleasant sound, when it resonates in the nasal area.

Don’t let anyone confuse you with labels like “head voice” and “chest voice”. Till today, I still don’t really know what they mean, but certain everything concerning a human singing voice is just a very natural thing, the singer has the implanted intuition how to use her/his instrument. You will intuitively know when to soften it in order to traverse from one note to another, and it will vary depending on how your voice is that particular day (sometimes it’s stronger and you can really belt, and sometimes it’s not so strong - this is mostly in the developing stage). Just be natural, the more you use it, the more you understand it. In the very beginning, I used to do some of the excercises they had in my moms singing book, but that lasted maybe 6 months or less. I just wanted to sing, not do boring excercises, and I think that works too. Even piano playing, I tried reading sheet music and playing at the same time, and playing songs in piano books, but quickly lost patience. I needed more excitement so I just naturally started playing only songs I love by ear. Also in my music journey, at a point were I was still somewhat lost, I began to hear terms like “hook”. At first I thought it must be a secret ingredient I was missing in my attempts, that’s why my songs sucked.  I tried to look up the meaning of “hook”, and nothing I read made sense to me, so I left it alone. Recently I looked it up again, and had some idea what it means but it seems like just another “prison/box” for your music, ( if you start to think only in terms of “hook”).  Anything that is beautiful or moves you is a hook, but I never think about “hook” when writing my songs, and I am very very happy with many of them today. Just keep practicing, your discernment or “ear” and sense of how to create the feeling you want.

Moving in your music, from beginning to end, is a journey. You can’t just start at the beginning, and then suddenly, it’s the end. You must show the listener how you got there. The same thing applies in the details - moving from one measure to another. You have to work out for the listener, the best way to go from this chord to the next, keeping in mind also the bigger picture. Each measure begins with a set of notes, seldom only one note but usually two, three or four notes played together. Each combination of notes in any number gives a different feeling, and that is where developing your ear comes into place. The more you play, the more you can discern hoe it feels. So your goal is to maximize the feeling as you traverse through the entire song. Always think in terms of feeling, not chords. Idea of chords is just a training wheel. You have to remove any training wheels if you want to transcend to a higher place in composing. Go always with feeling only. If you start thinking in terms like “seventh”. “suspended” “diminished” “minor” “major”, you will restrict and confuse yourself. It will show in your art, because it’s not 100% true representation of what you’re trying to achieve. Never add any note(s) that contributes nothing to the feeling. So when going from one place to another in the song, the listener can usually predict where it’s going by the feeling, but even so there will be surprises that happen naturally. The combination of sensing where it is going, and surprises is what makes it interesting.

The most important part of any song is the melody. She is the queen, and must be most beautiful, lovely and free to go as she truly pleases, not following the rules of any other parts. The rest of the cast are really supporters of that highest beauty/love, especially the bass (the king).  Once you have a good melody, anyone with a good ear can harmonize it - most important part of harmonizing is knowing where (which note) to place the bass in each movement. When forming a melody, usually you start with a small interesting piece that captures your attention. Sometimes it comes with actual lyrics, and sometimes just an idea of how the lyrics should sound, and  then you find the closest words to maintain that sonic feeling. Sometimes also it is just a melody.  Then slowly, the rest of the family of that small beautiful piece begin to come out to you, and you just keep adding them till they are complete enough. There will be brothers, sisters, even twins with very small vareity that you can tell them apart, cousins and anything else related, all with beauty as the initial piece, but in their variant. The only rule then is - do not transgress. The listener will know immediately, while listening to your composition, when you transgress, and will not go back again much. The level of transgression depends on how high you have ascended in your “ear” for the feeling and how to manifest it given those 12 notes.  Let the song come out as it best feels.  You have the feeling in your mind, and experience will let you know which notes to add in each movement, to get that feel.  If adding a bridge will ruin the spirit, then don't add one.  The higher you are ascended in music, the more you begin to hear the most interesting melodies and harmonies out of nowhere. your only job then is to begin to pull out the rest of its family. You will even have dreams with the most perfect music playing, you would not be able to imagine when you are awake.  They are most likely coming from the spirit world. I have said once that music is the language of the spirit world ( or at least one of the main languages ).  It’s probably the same with any form of art. Art is our highest nature, not science, but for those who prefer science, it is an art.  In the beginning, when I was struggling with my music, somewhat lost, I saw my search for beauty in music as my search for God ( inspired by a song I wrote then called Kyrie [ ile ison ] ). I was right, because it was very instrumental in leading me to him. Very much. Like it helped format my mind correctly, removing satan or “transgressions”, that were deceiving/misleading me in the music at the time.  Everybody has a different nature.  Some are more firey. and some are more watery.  Some are more bright (Mozart), and some are more dark ( Beethoven ).  The melodies and feelings you choose will depend on your nature, which is why no two artists will be bringing the same arts.  Freedom allows a person of one nature, to also understand another, and to represent it in art, so there is no hard and fast rule about that.  A fully rounded person, would have all the moods intact and able to represent all, but there will still be some uniqueness/individuality and preference.

The same things apply with lyrics. The higher you go in ascension to God ( less satan ), the more you know the right lyrics to convey the best meaning without aesthetic/sonic/poetic transgression.

There is one rule, my mother told us about singing, that I follow to this day. She said to us “never sing too early in the morning”. My nature completely agreed with her. I am never in the mood for singing early in the morning. I generally try to sing only after 12 noon. It is not hard and fast though. I have sang a few times earlier, when I was moved to. So take with a grain of salt. If your nature is different, follow it.

In my early years, when I was still very hungry, I would wake up at odd hours of the night, to capture an idea that must not fly away. Make sure I have it down and complete, before I go back to sleep. Now that I am a little above semi satisfied, I naturally no longer do that. Anything that comes to me, if its very strong, I would bring up the voice memo app on my Iphone, and sing it in there. The next time I am in the mood for making music, I would perfect the idea and incorporate it.

One time, I was having a discussion with my sister in law ( Kole’s partner, Kamela ), and we started to talk about my musical efforts, particularly playing the piano. She said at one point “I heard you have to play through the pain”, meaning if you get to a point, it's kind of painful practicing, you should go through it. I may have agreed at the time, just not to cause any friction, but my sincere approach to music has always been, if it doesn't feel good in any way, I would leave it. My 100% reason for indulging music is only to enjoy myself. If ever it became painful in any way, I would leave or abandon it.  No pain no gain to me is bullshit or satan philosophy ( at least in music, but I'm very sure it applies everywhere ). No risk, no gain is for sure, and sometimes you pay for the risk in some pain. That is the only place pain should come in. The more you apply calculated caution, the less the pain involved. ( hardly ever in music, but yes for sports/activities like gymnastics etc ).   I had no interest in doing it for a living, or money. My only desire ever, was to find the very best art and music, that I knew existed somewhere within me. I had to bring it out, and that was the only thing that kept me going. Love.  But never through pain. I was completely faithful to my feelings and obedient to nature. When circumstances or nature said “don’t play” or “don’t sing”, I would obey.

When I decided to turn vegetarian in July 2015, satan tried to convince me in my mind, that my voice will not be right unless I eat meat.  It will lose it's "meat" so to speak.  My response was that if even I lose my voice completely due to vegetarianism, I will not care.  I can not kill an animal, just because I want a beautiful singing voice.  For my voice, I made the right choice, and when God is done with it, the whole world will see that things like this, are powered by love, not meat.
