Explanation of lyrics

"The moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation".  Salvation from what?  Must be satans power.  A plane heading for Africa means he's heading for salvation.  He believes Africa holds salvation from satans power.

"gonna take a lot to drag me away from you".  I believe he is talking about satan.  Once satan has captured him he is aware it's pretty much impossible for anything to take him away from satan.  There is also the possibility he is talking about God or Africa, meaning for the sake of his salvation he will cling to him/it, and nothing can drag him away.

"Theres nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do".  Even a hundred men trying their best could not fix this particular situation ( trapped by satan ).

"I bless the rains down in Africa".  But he believes there is hope in Africa.

"Gonna take some time to do the things we never had".  Most people have had things in their minds they always thought of doing.  Really good things that they kept procrastinating because the time was not right yet.  Well while these things start happening, if you hope for salvation still, then it's time to start doing these things you always felt you should.  I'm thinking he means before you are actually captured, although, I do believe satan allows some good deeds after he has captured you, in order to maintain a look of normalcy.  Such deeds after capture cannot save you though.  It's probably best to do what you are allowed anyway, for the sake of others, not yourself.

"I know that I must do what's right, As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti".  Again longing for salvation, or just to return to who you really believe you should be, you want to do the things that are right, because thats where you belong - with the light.

"I seek to cure what's deep inside, Frightened of this thing that I've become". This is the most telling lyric in this song.  Whats now deep inside is a piece of satans spirit that he planted and it has grown, turning you into a "thing", not really human anymore like you would like to be.  Becoming a "thing" really means you are now under satans power.
